SGR equipment - Return Guarantee RetuRO

On November 30, 2023, the Guarantee-Return System (SGR), administered by RetuRO, was officially launched in Romania, marking an important step towards a greener future. Through this system, citizens pay a guarantee of 0.50 RON for each product purchased in non-reusable glass, plastic or metal packaging, between 0.1 l and 3 l, which belongs to the categories of water, soft drinks, beer, cider, wine or alcoholic drinks.

Return recommendations:

  • The packaging must be intact, undamaged and with the label visible.
  • Packages must be emptied of liquid to avoid rejection by automated equipment.

SGR packaging collection:

  1. Manual collection - the packages are picked up manually and the guarantee is returned in cash, voucher or by bank transfer (bank fees being borne by the applicant).
  2. Automatic collection - the packaging is picked up by automatic equipment and the guarantee is returned by voucher or bank transfer.

Note:

  • The new packaging will gradually appear in stores from November 30. Packaging without the SGR symbol is not eligible for return through this system.
  • RetuRO recommends not to supply packaging from old stocks, as they are not accepted in SGR.
